on Christmas trees...

Our Christmas tree this year, replaced my thrift store Christmas tree that died horribly two years prior. Isis made sure she killed it. At the after Christmas sale last year I went and grabbed a nice 6 foot lighted creature at a huge discount. Some people, go with the coordinated, organized, well designed Christmas tree layout. Their trees would look just fine pictured in Better Homes and Gardens or on the Martha Stewart show. Mine does not follow this strategic design of wonderful.

Our tree is a hodge podge of random ornaments, everything from African, Afghan, to homemade from years long past. I used to put some Hallmark ornaments on it, but after Isis doomed the last tree to the great beyond, I now keep those off. Plus the hallmark ornaments are far to clean and fabalous. They ruin the wonderful zen of the tree.

This year, not only did we add the ornament that Dr. George gave Nicky we also added Isis's little spare collar that the neighbor found, and a stuffed Jemima Puddle Duck. Since, eventually, the cats will attempt to scale the tree, I went ahead and put a stuffed cat at the very top. This tradition started a few years ago, prior to Isis killing the former tree.

Sitting in the living room, with Nicky, the cats, the dogs, and the wonderous lit tree the year, in its chaotic nature...from child birth to other confusing chaos all seems worth it.
