So if you want to drive like a moron, please read the below article. It is important to do a number of things:
- be impatient in traffic...no one else is getting anywhere, so why should this impede you?
- Make it a point to either talk on your cell phone, listen to the radio, or do some knitting while cruising along the roadway. Distractions are good, they increase your ability to make nastier accident.
- Please ignore the officers who are directing traffic, who cares about them, they are just suggesting things you should do. You have been driving a real long time! You know better, right?
- Don't view the road ahead or look for warning signs that might indicate trouble, like backed up traffic, road crews, accidents, officers, or babies in buggies. Most of them make fine projectiles and will move if hit. Certainly don't slow down for any of these objects! Speeding up is super important.
- I should add at this point, stop signs and stop lights, just recommendations.
- Tailgating, very important! The person in front of you wishes, to see the whites of your eyes. Also, bumpers are meant for bumping? Right, so bump away!
- If you hear sirens, see emergency vehicles don't pull over and stop. In fact you might want to speed up and drive in front of them, they like that I hear...
A) have never ever driven in "real" traffic
B) need their keys taken away and require a defensive driving class
C) when they act stupidity on the road: talk on their cell phone, almost squish a pedestrian, run a red light, or ignore an officer....a brief shock of electricity should go through their car seat. Hey they use something similar on dogs to keep them from barking, the theory might work for asinine drivers as well.
Vehicles collide, pile up on I-94 (Bismarck Tribune May 26, 2010)
A series of collisions caused no serious injuries Tuesday afternoon, but they damaged nine vehicles in the area of the Grant Marsh Bridge, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crashes were triggered when motorists were unable to react in time to slowed and diverted traffic.
Incidents included a six-car pile-up in the middle of the bridge, a pickup ramming a guard rail on Divide Avenue’s west-bound off-ramp, and two other vehicles colliding behind one another when they were unable to slow down in time for the delays. The crashes occurred after a piece of Interstate 94 buckled about one-half mile west of Grant Marsh Bridge shortly before 4 p.m.
The road was damaged just past where Bismarck Expressway merges onto I-94. Motorists reportedly didn’t respond in time despite authorities’ efforts to move traffic from the damaged road.
Two ambulances transported an unknown number of injured from the area.
Sgt. Robert Kennedy of the North Dakota Highway Patrol said Tuesday evening that the injured were treated and released.
He said the three incidents occurred sometime after 4:30 p.m.
Troopers had already diverted traffic and closed parts of road to allow state Transportation officials to make repairs.
Kennedy said impatient or distracted drivers caused the chain reaction.
“People were not taking their time,” he said. “We had been directing traffic for over one-half an hour when the crashes began.”
West-bound traffic was diverted to the north lane of I-94 for more than an hour.
A horse trailer carrying cattle was part of the six-vehicle pile-up.
Kennedy said none of the animals were seriously injured and they were loaded into a separate trailer.
Kennedy said Department of Transportation officials made needed repairs, but he did not know what caused the road damage."
