bye Nicky...

Well if the sucking vortex of death is just beginning to cause me to run out of tears.  My mother called last night and our family cat Nicky, we got her about the same time we got Max.  Was not doing so well, so Nick went to the vet, were it was discovered that she was suffering from the final stages of renal failure.  Apparently, this began in July, approx. the same time Max began showing signs of illness.  Yep, Nicky went off into the darkness to join Max and Cindy.  This ends an era, the pets we extracted from Texas, during the late 90s, have now returned from whence they came, back the great nothing.

Nicky was a true Ceiling Cat!  1996, my mother found her in the ventilation system of a school she was teaching at.  Nicky would come to the vent and mew.  The students and mom took the vent cover off and mother brought her royal highness home.  She was our first cat.  She was also a true predator.  She killed and ate her prey, frequently puking up bits of various birds and mice all over the house.  She was really into to be-heading mice.  Crunchy skulls are the best treat, she once told me.

Nick was a Christmas cat and thus named after St. Nicholas.  Christmas was a favorite time of year, she loved to sleep under the tree, basking in the lights, and snuggling with the presents. Christmas, at the parents house, will never be the same without her.
