Beyond the Egyptian people my second greatest fear has been for the libraries, museums, and historical sites in Egypt. I have yet to visit this grand place and I would rather not to see ancient history pummeled. Since the Taliban exploded the Buddhas, I remain slightly paranoid that another rioting faction/group/chaotic freaky will destroy other relics before I have the opportunity to see them.
Big thank you to the students, police, and troops who formed the human chain/barrier outside the Cairo museum! "Students and tourism police formed a chain around the museum, next door to the headquarters of President Mubarak’s National Democratic Party. Troops also surrounded the Pyramids in Giza and were sent to safeguard the Valley of the Kings at Luxor."
