adventure...not...

Apparently some poor misinformed soul has published a book Melanie's Marvelous Measles.  What the fuck is wrong with you?  There is nothing "marvelous" about measles.  I had them you stupid dink.  I survived with minimal scarring, I was lucky.  Obviously the author of this little piece of misinformed uneducated trash has never had the delightful time devoted to working in other countries in the midst of Measles outbreaks.  Getting Measles is no fun, not an adventure, and it is a very very bad thing.

About 30% of measles cases develop one or more complications, including

• Pneumonia, which is the complication that is most often the cause of death in young children.
• Ear infections occur in about 1 in 10 measles cases and permanent loss of hearing can result.
• Diarrhea is reported in about 8% of cases.

Trust me there are way way more complications!  If you wish to experience Measles and the after effects, pack your little bags up and head to Europe or another country.  Since inoculation rates have plummeted this disease has made a huge comeback.  This is also true in the US, as we have begun to have outbreaks again.

I have had the delight of traveling abroad and seeing the after effects of Measles first hand. I vaccinate...period.   There is no, "should I or shouldn't I...?"  Once one has experienced it first hand and seen the outcome, the deal is sealed.  I will not endanger my children by not vaccinating them against preventable diseases.
