I am a Hoardette...

My tiny little addiction is A&E's Hoarders, I love this show! One of my favorite episodes is when they are cleaning out like 8 thousand pounds of garbage (ok, Collectibles) from this ladies house and they found her cat. Something had fallen on it and it had died in the chaos. Her response..."I thought it ran away." Oh my goodness...really?

It has been a constant fear of mine I could become a hoarder, mostly accidently. I have some great aunts and uncles that hoarded. Now they were children from the depression era, but still the fear lingers. Every Monday and sometimes Wednesday night, I prepare to watch my favorite show, but ultimately, during the first commercial break, I am so FREAKED out, I get up and start going through a box, a closet, or bin and before I know it I have not watched anymore television and I have a nice grouping of thrift store items...Patrick says I have been reduced to a Hoardette, rather than a Hoarder.

I have a policy when it comes to items:
  1. When was the last time I even looked at this or thought of it?
  2. When was the last time I used this, this question ultimately kicked my Fire King dishes out of the house
  3. Is it a complete set - this is a dish question
  4. How much dust do I, or should I remove of this item weekly...
  5. Am I just keeping this cuz, I might use it? How long have I had this cuz I might use it?
  6. When was the last time I wore this? If I haven't worn it in a while...why?
    • Out of style
    • To small
    • Uncomfortable
    • Zipper broken
    • Hideous
    • Do I have to dry clean it? I pretty much got rid of most of my dry clean only clothes...with a kid I will not be wearing them for about 18 years. When I can wear them again, not in style. Of course the clothes are not really in style now...goodbye stirrup pantsNo matter what anyone tells you stirrup pants are just not complementary on any women...of course most women I see wearing them are tad on the heavy side...fat rolls...EWWWW!

I have moved from Hoardess to Hoardette, so things are getting better. Soon I will be at Hoardy and finally Hoard...when I get to Hoard, I will just pull a Genghis Kahn.  Some peoples hobbys are to collect stuff, mine is to get rid of stuff...I am sure this obsession might explain why all of Patrick's Rolling Stones went missing one day :-)
