Scientists have created the first synthetic living cell. This could be a bad thing or good thing. The synthetic living cell could pave the way into a new universe of medicine and healing, and that is just one bit. Or, it could reduce us all drooling zombies that prey on surviving humans for brains. So I have watched far to many bad sci-fi movies. This time though, I will perceive the new synthetic living cell as good thing and attempt to avoid the bad future thoughts that rumble through my brain and keep up late wondering if Friday's barking is to alert us to the end of the world or does it only have something to do with Dr. Bunny's new horrific redesign of the kitchen cabinets.
The resulting microbe then looked and behaved like the species "dictated" by the synthetic DNA.
The advance, published in Science, has been hailed as a scientific landmark, but critics say there are dangers posed by synthetic organisms" ..... from the bbcnews.com
