19-year-old motorcyclist was injured Sunday in a crash with an auto...he was not wearing a helmet. I saw this and thought...stupid. I know they love to have the wind wafting through their hair or whatever, but seriously, kissing pavement with your scalp? Not beneficial, particularly to your brain. I have several friends who have sustained enormous injuries while riding their bikes. If they had not been wearing helmets....they would be very dead.
Well it gets better...apparently "I don't wear a helmet" was busy speeding, got chased by the police, and ran three red lights.

People can be killed whether or not they are wearing helmets. Motorcyclists are injured all the time, either because of their own reckless driving, or more often, due to the reckless driving of the cars around them. It's sad, and this guy clearly gives conscientious motorcyclists a bad name. When we ride, we wear helmets, but it wouldn't necessarily save us in an accident. Just saying....
