punk'd

This has "hoax" written all over it when I saw it surface on several peoples FB pages.  After less then 30 seconds of research I figured out what species of "hoax" it was, who its cousin were, and if it had any baby "hoaxes."  Geez...before you post something like this, do a bit of research, or you end up looking like an uneducated ninny.

A so-called privacy notice has been going around Facebook, claiming to have the power to prevent all entities (including the government) from monitoring one's status updates and photos on the site. Since people are now well-aware of privacy issues on Facebook, many actually believed and reposted the notice on their own profiles.

.... "If you see any of your friends posting this message, tell them they've been punk'd. As internet hoax buster Snopes recently pointed out, the fact that Facebook went public doesn't affect the privacy of its users. More importantly, no privacy notice can ever overturn the terms and conditions you agreed to when you first joined the site. The best you can do to protect yourself on Facebook right now is to tweak your privacy settings."

Of course if you wish to continue to slap this stuff on your FB account willy nilly, it does give me something to snicker at.
